A report from the Shanghai Daily today told the story of a Gambling Den that was raided to find a bunch of alleged gamblers watching soccer on TV and placing bets on an Internet Sportsbook. Apparently an enterprising woman had opened up a soccer social club in Shanghai which the news story called a "lurk" and she'd been making book via a website in her house since February, to which she confessed having over 100 customers and making about $2,632 USD in profits.
If this story goes mainstream the on-line sportsbooks will make a
Prop Bet on how much time she'll serve in prison but seriously it begs
the question "how was she accessing a Sportsbook on-line?" and if she's
doing it, how many others are operating Sportsbooks in their homes? or
to put it another way: How many Gamblers are Lurking in China?
The story is a funny read because it's reminiscent of "Reefer Madness" from the USA in the 1920's, here's an excerpt with the link to the story at the bottom:

Gambling den puts police on a sure thing
A RESIDENCE on Pingshun Road attracted the attention of police when they noticed a large number of people coming and going from the address, many of them talking animatedly about soccer and gambling.
A raid soon afterward found 20 men there taking part in on-line gambling, a lurk supervised by a middle-aged woman.
