Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins of 1972 that's what made this Canuck adopt the NFL over CFL and it's the one team that won the hearts and minds of every sports fan, whether Canadian or American, that ever watched a football game.
What an awesome team! The Dolphins completed the NFL's only perfect season to date in the Super Bowl era, winning all 14 regular season games, two playoff games and Super Bowl VII. The team also won Super Bowl VIII, becoming the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls, and the second team (first AFL/AFC team) to win back-to-back championships.

Despite having lived in Miami and having attended very memorable games when it was Joe Robbie Stadium and then later as Pro Player Stadium, it was too late I was a Packer Fan even before 1972. Being from Canada this is an unusual situation, my team should have been the B.C. Lions but I was weaned on NFL and mostly because of the Quarterback Bart Starr I became a huge Green Bay Packer Fan, now I've had a lifetime affiliation to the Green and Gold.
Brett Favre has helped to reaffirm my fanaticism for the NFL in more recent years, so I follow every game to this day, even though I live in Brazil. My beloved Packers are in the hunt for first place in their division this season and I've got a feeling this could the last year for Brett, so he'll want to break a few more records before he retires.
At this point in the season all eyes are on the Patriots, especially the old Miami Dolphin teammates, as legend has it they each keep a bottle of champagne on ice, ready to pop when the last undefeated teams gets beat. That it's been 35 years since a single team has won every regular season game, even if there are two more of them each season, just goes to show the parity and competitiveness of the National Football League.
Unfortunately it won't the Packers that help those old Dolphins to pop the cork on the champagne, unless it has to be after the regular season but the Patriots would need to win 7 more games for that to happen and I think that's highly unlikely. Interestingly the second to last regular season game, two days before Christmas is a home game against the Miami Dolphins in Gillette Stadium at Foxborough. So if the Pats could make through 5 more victories it would be the Dolphins attempting to protect the legendary record and failing that it would be left to the Giants for the last regular season match-up.
